Kevin smith sez #kevinsmith

While watching Kevin Smith's talkumentary last night; he made light of one's own art.  Among the items of art, a blog was one of these such items.  So Kevin I'm working on my art...that's all.

With the cold comes...

Its been a strange start to winter here in S. Maine. The weather has been relatively mild, little or no snow.
I have yet to really make any headway in the shop.  As I mentioned before closing my lab forced me to take a really hard look at how much stuff I have.  When you start to pile everything into a little space you begin to make some very tough choices.  So far nothing had to be tossed away other than boxes (which were recycled).  However its coming soon to make the executive decision of where the 220v power panel and the heat source.  I need to do more research on pellet stoves...'nough said. But somethings are going to be forced out to make wall space...that is the premium in a small shop.

Ok that's about enough rambling about having too much or many tools.   Updates are always in the works, next up soon is a book case...I pray.

Whatta Mess

Yeah...

I had the shop clean and organized...then summer came and so did more stuff. Fall arrived and with it my former part and tools of my lab...then more stuff. Its not a total disaster, but getting to the bottom of these piles of material things have been driving me nothing short of crazy.

Good news out of all of this is I have been raising money, by selling odd and ends, to achieve the 220V line that I need to get my Grizzly tablesaw working. Its been slow going, but I'm confident in the spring to be able to bring the lines over to the garage that I need.

More good news is the Case DI has made its way to my homestead. I'll have pictures up soon, restoration is going to be slow, but I'm super excited to have this piece of working history at my house/workshop. More to come as the year moves forward.

From time well spent to something awesome.>>>

From time well spent to something awesome; I brought the cabinet to my uncle and gave it to his paint man Timmy. I really wanted the cabinet painted red, but they painted it a cream white like everything else in the spray booth. No worries though; it came out awesome. I was so happy to get it back the shop and reassemble the whole thing. To date I haven't put all the hardware back on, but I think I will pretty soon. Its so nice to be able to work on models and when I want to wood work just close up the cabinet and not have worry about dust and dirt.

Time Well Spent...

I am trying like made to get the shop ready for winter. Here in Maine closing things up is really important, before the onset of the cold and wet weather to come. I have come across a pretty sweet cabinent. My sister's boyfriend was removeing some items from his house. One item was a cabinet that would work perfect as modeling and storage center. Its in the rough, but a coat of paint and some casters and I think it will be ready to roll. The best part of the cabinet is the fact it closes and I can use my woodshop without fear of covering my works in progress.
